To add Tabby and Tamara to Shopify, apply for a merchant account with each, install their Shopify apps or payment methods, enter the keys they give you, show the instalment price on product pages and place a test order. Allow a few days for approval; the technical setup takes about a day. Our add-on starts from AED 1,450.
Your checkout is live, but three customers this week asked “can I pay with Tabby?” and left when the answer was no.
Before you start
Both providers approve merchants before they switch you on. Have your trade licence, Emirates ID of the owner, a bank account in the company name and a live website with products, prices, a returns policy and contact details.
✓ Onboarding documents, approval times and country coverage differ by provider and change. Ask Tabby and Tamara for their current checklists. Last checked October 2026. Confirm with each provider before relying on it.
Install and configure Tabby
- Apply on Tabby’s merchant page and wait for your account.
- In Shopify admin, add the Tabby payment method or app as their instructions say.
- Paste the public and secret keys from the Tabby dashboard.
- Switch to test mode first and save.
✓ Tabby’s install steps and app names have changed before. Follow the current Shopify instructions in Tabby’s merchant documentation. Last checked October 2026. Confirm with Tabby.
Install and configure Tamara
The flow is similar: apply, receive credentials, add Tamara in Shopify, paste the keys and keep test mode on until you have placed an order. Check which currencies and countries your account covers, especially if you also sell into Saudi Arabia.
✓ Tamara’s plans, limits and Shopify set-up differ by merchant account. Confirm in your Tamara merchant dashboard. Last checked October 2026.
Show “pay in 4” on product pages
Customers decide on the product page, not at checkout. Add each provider’s widget under the price so the instalment amount is visible, and again in the cart. A custom theme can place it neatly beside the Add to cart button; free themes sometimes need a small code edit.
Test orders
- One order with each provider in test mode
- A cancelled payment, to see what the customer sees
- An order on an iPhone and on an Android phone
- An order in Arabic if your store has it
- The confirmation email and order status in Shopify
Refunds and returns
Refund from Shopify and check that the provider’s dashboard shows it too. Agree who handles partial refunds, and write a returns policy that mentions instalments so staff are not guessing.
Common problems
- The method does not appear: the cart total is outside the provider’s limits, or the currency is not AED.
- Orders paid but not marked paid: webhook or key mismatch, usually a test key left in.
- Widget missing: the theme was updated and removed the code snippet.
When to get help
If you also need Apple Pay, a card gateway and Zoho sync, it is worth doing together. Our payment add-on starts from AED 1,450 and is usually live within days; AED 9,950 covers the complete payments package. Prices exclude 5% VAT.
Questions
Yes. Most UAE stores do, because customers have a favourite. Show both on the product page and at checkout.
It depends on the provider and on how complete your documents are. Apply first, then build the rest while you wait.
The providers set their own merchant fees. Ask each for a written quote.
